2012 TCW11 Republic Commando Boss

RC-01/138—simplified as RC-1138 and also known as Delta-38 or by his nickname of Boss—was a clone of Mandalorian bounty hunter Jango Fett. Born in 32 BBY on the watery world of Kamino, Boss was trained by the Mandalorian Cuy'val Dar training sergeant Walon Vau to become a clone commando in the Grand Army of the Republic. Placed in command of three other commandos, Boss lead the elite special forces unit Delta Squad as their sergeant. When the Clone Wars broke out between the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems, Boss took his place in the Grand Army's Special Operations Brigade under Jedi General Arligan Zey, and served alongside his clone brothers in Delta Squad on a number of battlefields, ranging from the deserts of Geonosis, the halls of the RAS Prosecutor, and the streets of Coruscant, to snowy Mygeeto and the the plains of Haurgab. Following the transformation of the Republic into the Galactic Empire, Boss and the other members of Delta Squad—minus squadmate RC-1207, who the squad was forced to abandon on Kashyyyk in the final days of the Clone Wars—served in the new Imperial Army, as members of the Imperial Commando Special Unit, a specialized unit within the 501st Legion tasked with hunting down clone deserters, fugitive Jedi Knights and Jedi sympathizers.  -Wikipedia.com

Although this figure was released under the animated Clone Wars line, the figure can still pass as one of the movie like figures as well. It would be nice to see the rest of the Delta Squad redone in this figure form. I never picked up the latest Battle Pack of them as a set. I do have the original seven pack. This is a must have figure even for you non clone collectors. Check out my photo gallery here at DSP of Commando Boss. Be sure to stop by the Forum and leave your thoughts on this figure. Did you find yours in the wild?

2012 TCW09 Chewbacca (REPACK)

To portray Chewbacca for “The Clone Wars,” Mr. Mayhew was not required to don the outfit at all. (“I was doing it in my own clothing,” he said.) However, he did record dialogue for the character, having learned over the years to emulate the blend of bear growls and other animal noises used to create Chewie’s voice. Lucasfilm hasn’t said yet if Chewbacca will return for future episodes of “The Clone Wars,” but Mr. Mayhew said he was happy to have been so closely associated with the character for nearly 35 years. -Source

I personally missed out on finding the original release of this figure in the wild. However, I was thrilled to finally added the animated Chewbacca figure to my collection when Hasbro decided to re-released this figure in the new packagung. I hear that there was a variation though with the bottom portion of this hair skirt having slits to be able to bend his legs. The original not having them. So maybe I will hunt down the original still and add that figure as well to my ever growing action figure collection. Click here to view the gallery I put together for DSP. Discover The Force: 4 of 12 G8-R3

G8-R3 was an astromech droid in the service of the Royal Naboo Security Forces in 32 BBY. He had the head of an R5-unit on the body of an R2-unit. He was destroyed by a blaster bolt fired by the Trade Federation ships blockading Naboo while attempting to repair Queen Amidala's royal starship. -Wikipedia.com

I have added the Walmart exclusive astromech droid to the Toy Gallery here at DSP. Check out the images by clicking here. Join the Discussion by clicking here.

Vintage Collection: #87 Luke Skywalker (Lightsaber Construction)

Luke Skywalker's lightsaber was the lightsaber used by Luke Skywalker. It was made in 3 ABY after he lost his father's lightsaber to Vader himself, along with getting his hand cut off.

The design of the weapon was based off schematics Luke found in Obi-Wan Kenobi's hut on Tatooine. While the final product remained largely faithful to these designs, Luke simplified the weapon considerably, as this was his first attempt at constructing a lightsaber. For instance; he decided to use only one crystal for his lightsaber, as opposed to the ideal of three to allow for a fully adjustable blade.[1] Luke was able to gather most of the parts he required to build his weapon from various vendors in the city of Mos Eisley, including a high-energy reflector cup, power cells and a focusing lens. However, Luke was unable to obtain the one vital component that would bring the whole project together: the lightsaber crystal itself.[1]  -Wikipedia.com

Vintage Collection: #59 Nom Anor

Nom Anor was a male Yuuzhan Vong who played a crucial role in the Yuuzhan Vong War and was marked by his ambition, sense of self-preservation, doubt in the Yuuzhan Vong's gods, and skill in many fields. A member of the intendant caste, Anor was one of the leaders among the Yuuzhan Vong in the galaxy prior to the species' invasion. Anor helped prolong the Galactic Civil War, and weakened potential foes to the Yuuzhan Vong. In 25 ABY, the Yuuzhan Vong War began as the Yuuzhan Vong invaded the galaxy, with the Praetorite Vong leading the way. Anor assisted the Praetorite Vong, though the organization was defeated. -Wikipedia.com

Discover The Force: 1 of 12 Aurra Sing

"Aurra Sing, also known as Nashtah, was once a female Jedi Padawan, but following a series of tragedies and misfortunes, she left the Jedi Order to become a vicious bounty hunter specializing in Jedi and political assassinations. She even became an associate in the posse of Cad Bane, a brief mentor of the orphaned Boba Fett, a commander for the Confederacy of Independent Systems during the Clone Wars, and later an Imperial Agent under the Sith Lord Darth Vader." -Wikipedia

The Discover The Force action figure collection was sold exclusively at Walmart. The card backs for this collection are similar to the Movie Heroes collection, but feature 3D glasses on the left side of the card and a special 3D image on the card backs.

Toy Gallery Update: Attack Recon Fighter w/ Anakin Skywalker

"A Republic recon fighter slices through space, piloted by Anakin Skywalker. The compact vehicle responds well to the Force-sensitive abilities of the Jedi. The attack fighter has fold-down wings so it can be transported in Republic gunships. Intergrated cannons fully rotate for maximum attack potential in hostile engagements." -Back of package

Hasbro has been doing a great job with releasing some interesting deluxe vehicles and packing them with exclusive figures lately. Even if you do not collect the Clone Wars toys this one might interest you for some custom fodder. Click here to view the rest of the images I put together for the Toy Gallery here at DSP.

Toy Gallery Update: Republic Assault Submarine

Finally something new in the stores! I found the latest Clone Wars deluxe sets. I picked up the Republic Assault Submarine with the Scuba Clone Trooper. I enjoyed photographing this one because of all the features and poses you can put this Clone Trooper into. The Submarine transforms into attack mode and can be displayed like the old POTF2 deluxe Skiff that came with the Tattooine Luke. Check out the many photos I put together showing off this awesome mini rig by clicking here.

Clone SCUBA troopers, also known as clone subtroopers, were elite aquatic assault clone troopers grown on the planet Kamino for the Grand Army of the Republic. Trained in underwater tactics and outfitted with specialized clone trooper armor and blasters, clone SCUBA troopers were deployed on numerous aquatic battlefields throughout the Clone Wars, allowing the Galactic Republic to challenge marine foes on equal footing. Jedi Master and General Kit Fisto led units of clone SCUBA troopers on several occasions over the course of the Clone Wars, with the aquatic soldiers proving invaluable during two battles with the Confederacy of Independent Systems on the Outer Rim water-world, Mon Calamari. -Taken from Wookiepedia.com

Toy Gallery Updates: Lando Calrissian in Sandstorm Outfit VC89

Wave 2 of the Vintage Collection for 2012 has been very hard to find at retail stores. I got lucky and found two out of the five back in Feb however they were not in Walmart's system which is probably why I couldn't find the others from the wave. Plus it didnt help that Wave 1 was cloging up the pegs. Lando Calrissian in Sandstorm Outfit is from the Blu-Ray deleted scenes. Underneath his scarf and poncho reveals him in his Skiff Guard Disguise.

EXT DUNE SEA - LANDING AREA
A ferocious sandstorm blocks our view. Then, through the ROAR, we HEAR THE VOICES of our heroes. They emerge slowly from the veil of sand, pressing on against the wind. First come Artoo and Threepio, followed by Leia guiding Han, then Luke and Lando come into view, each supporting one side of the towering Chewbacca, who hobbles from his wound. Soon, they can make out some large vague shapes in the blowing sand. It is the Millennium Falcon and, parked beside it, Luke's trusty X-wing and a two-seated Y-wing. They must shout to be heard.

Toy Gallery Update: Super Battle Droid VC37

I went back and added the VC37 Super Battle Droid since I never picked one up during it's original release. However, I did find this one for $4 at Walmart. In fact I picked up four of them at that price for my Trade Federation army. This version is a repaint of the figure from 2007's 30th Anniversary Collection #8 Super Battle Droid with fire accessories.

The B2 super battle droid (SBD) was an upgraded version of the B1 battle droid, with superior armament and armor. They were manufactured after the invasion of Naboo proved need for stronger droids. B2s were used by the Trade Federation, the Techno Union, and later, on a much larger scale, the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Some units were later reactivated on Mustafar by Gizor Dellso and other members of the Separatist holdouts, and the Galactic Alliance also used some B2 units during the Yuuzhan Vong War. -Taken from Wookiepedia.com

Toy Gallery Update: Logray VC56

I finally got around to getting the Vintage Collection Logray up on the Toy Gallery. I would of had this gallery up last week if it wasnt for my vintage Kenner figure missing from my collection. I quickly went on eBay and picked up the original for $6 complete in mint condition. You can view the comparison shot within the Toy Gallery.

Logray was the head shaman for the Ewok tribe who lived in Bright Tree Village. He was tall for an Ewok, with tan-striped fur. Logray often wore a headdress decorated with feathers, beads, and a large churi bird skull. He carried a staff decorated with the spinal bones of a defeated enemy.

After the Battle of Endor, Logray was exposed as a coward and a bully. Chirpa ousted Logray, appointing Paploo in his place. Though the angry old wizard placed a curse on the village, Paploo enlisted the aid of "the Golden One" in a ritual to remove the curse. Logray went into exile, and the Ewoks refused to speak his name ever again. He was stricken from the village "Songs of Remembrance" as though he never existed. -Taken from Wikepedia.com

Toy Gallery Update: Bom Vimdin VC53

Bom Vimdin has been added to the Toy Gallery. Check out all the cool poses this figure can be put into. I also did a few shots where it appears that he is taking a drink of his blue milk and one where he looks like he is sniping with his rifle by looking through the scope. Quickscoping pro!

Bom Vimdin was a Advozse smuggler and mercenary during the Galactic Civil War. A pessimistic, reclusive being, he had no loyalties to anyone other than himself, and cared only for his credit balance. Around 0 BBY, he was a regular at Chalmun's Cantina in Mos Eisley, though he was widely disliked. Vimdin worked for a wide array of corrupt and dishonorable officials in his life, though his operations thrived during the time of the New Republic.

The Advozse made great profits transporting fugitive Imperials from New Republic territory to those controlled by the Empire, and although he was caught and apprehended many times, his loyal network of spies were able to free him. Eventually, his activities were deemed a threat to the New Republic and Security Chief Airen Cracken added him to his most wanted list. Thought to be one of the best at his profession, Vimdin was a wealthy being for most of his life, though he completely shunned the company of others. Taken from Wikipedia.com

Toy Gallery Update: Bad Pete as Boba Fett

I recently visited Downtown Disneyland and picked up a random Disney Character/ Star Wars cross-over figure. For now I only picked up Bad Pete as Boba Fett. Honestly, you get a bargain for $10 compared to how small the other characters are. Bad Pete is one giant chunk of plastic. I also updated the Toy Gallery here to show the list of characters that are made to date from this line. So far this is the only figure I own. Check out the gallery by clicking the link here:

Toy Gallery Update: Bastila Shan VC69

Talk about a figure that was hard to find when it was released. This figure took awhile to hunt down in the wild but I eventually scored one at retail. I kept seeing this figure for $20 or more at collectors shops. That is just rediculous! Anyways, Bastila Shan has made her way to the DSP.net Toy Gallery.

Bastila Shan was a Human female who served as a Jedi Knight during the Jedi Civil War. Born on the planet Talravin to Helena Shan and a treasure hunter, her mother gave her up to the Jedi Order, believing that their lifestyle of travel and exertions was not suitable for the young Shan. Shan was found to have an exceptional gift with a Force power known as battle meditation; which increased her allies' morale while demoralizing her enemies. Shan sided with the Jedi Council when the Jedi Knights Revan and Malak rebelled against the Council and joined the Galactic Republic in its war against the invading Mandalorian Neo-Crusaders.

One year after the final battle of the Mandalorian Wars, Revan returned from the Unknown Regions as the new Dark Lord of the Sith, with Malak as his apprentice, at the head of a new Sith Empire. Two years into the Jedi Civil War, Shan was the leader of a Jedi strike team sent to capture Darth Revan and Darth Malak. When her team boarded Revan's vessel, they managed to corner the Dark Lord on the bridge. Before they could engage Revan in combat, Malak, who was separated from his Master during the battle, betrayed Revan by ordering the guns of his flagship Leviathan to fire on Revan's vessel in an attempt to destroy both the Jedi and Revan. -Taken from here at Wikipedia.com

Toy Gallery Update: Obi-Wan Kenobi VC76

Finally, the last of the TPM figures. I had to run out and buy this figure the other day just to complete the set. The Vintage Collection #76 Obi-Wan kenobi is a repack of the 2009's Legacy Collection BD06 only this time around he comes with a Jedi Commlink accessory but cannot be attached to his belt. He is also repacked again on the "Discover the Force" walmart exclusive card. Why? Only there he does not include his cloak. WTF? Now we have to buy two of the same figure with different accessories at the same prices. Hasbro got rediculous with this one. I am so mad at that fact that I am not even gonna wikipedia this character. lol Click here to view the full gallery:

Toy Gallery Update: Ben Quadinaros VC81

A double double update! Here is the second of the Pod Racer two packs that are making their first debute as action figures including their useful Pit Droids. Although this is probably the most hidious looking figure so far, we still needed it made to complete the entire Pod Race entries.

Ben Quadinaros was a male Toong from the planet of Tund, and operated as a Podracer pilot during the last decades of the Galactic Republic. Quadinaros was known as something of a coward, though this was not entirely accurate. However, like most Toongs, he buckled under when confronted with social interaction. His timidity around others quickly earned him an undeserved reputation as a coward, and while he might not have been spineless, he didn't have the skill required to achieve success in the Boonta Eve Classic. Quadinaros had only raced previously on the Pouffra Circuit, widely regarded as one of the safest, and therefore in the collective opinion of the Podracing elite, wimpiest, courses in the galaxy.

Toy Gallery Updates: Ratts Tyerell VC77

Now we are talking! Hasbro is finally putting out the long awaited Pod Racer characters from The Phantom Mence. Today's update includes the two pack of Ratts Tyerell and his trusty Pit Droid, Everybody like two figures for the price of one even if we get repainted droids.

Ratts Tyerell was an Aleena Podracer who participated in the Boonta Eve Classic on Tatooine in 32 BBY. Born on the planet Aleen, Tyerell had incredible reflexes, which made him an adept Podracer. For several years he built up his reputation and became well-liked by the other regular racers. He was furious at the way fellow racer Sebulba found his success through cheating and vowed to kill the Dug racer. However, Tyerell perished in the Boonta Eve Classic—his engines were too large for the tight confines of Laguna Cave and caused him to crash. His son went on to found the Ratts Tyerell Foundation, which attempted to outlaw the sport of Podracing. -Taken from Wikipedia.com

Toy Gallery Update: Anakin Skywalker "Padawan" VC80

Vintage Collection Anakin Skywalker as a padawan has been added to the Toy Gallery. This incarnation of Anakin is one of the best to date. Not only do we get full articulation but we get four accessories. The helmet even stays on securely and doesnt fall off like the previous padawan hardhats. Unforenately my sample has a few paint ap drips on the outfit. Quality control seemed to be poor when painting this particular figure. Other than that, I am quite happy with this figure. Click the link below to view the rest of the images.

Although he would later become a crucial figure in the galaxy, Skywalker came from humble origins. He spent the first years of his life on Tatooine as a slave along with his mother. In 32 BBY, Skywalker met Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn. After obtaining his freedom by having been bet on by Jinn and winning the Boonta Eve Classic, Skywalker went with Jinn and departed from Tatooine, though troubled by leaving behind his mother. Skywalker took part in the Battle of Naboo, destroying the Droid Control Station despite his young age. Soon after, he joined the Jedi Order, becoming a Padawan to Obi-Wan Kenobi. Skywalker was believed to be (and indeed was) the Chosen One of Jedi prophecy, one who would bring balance to the Force by destroying the Sith, which was why the Jedi Council chose to bend the Jedi Code and permit his training. -Taken from Wikipedia.com

Toy Gallery Update: Darth Sidious VC79

The Vintage Collection Darth Sidious has to be the most impressive figure of this entire wave because of the likeness to Ian McDiarmid. The head sculpt is dead on to the character in the movie. The material used for the robes came out great and looks movie like as far as being just an action figure. If you click the link to view the full gallery you will get to see what Sidious looks like under the robe. Oh don't be alarmed, he is wearing clothes underneath. To top off this figure, it would of been nice if Hasbro added the Death Star plans hologram which he recieved from Count Dooku. All in all, this is a must have figure for any SW collector.

Palpatine first appeared as the unnamed Emperor of the Galactic Empire in the 1980 film Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back, and was voiced by Clive Revill. He is an aged, pale-faced figure who wears dark robes. In Return of the Jedi, Palpatine (now portrayed by Ian McDiarmid) oversees the final stages of the war between the Rebel Alliance and the Empire, culminating in a confrontation with Luke Skywalker, in which Palpatine is ultimately destroyed. In the prequel trilogy, Palpatine is a middle-aged politician of the Republic who rises to power through deception and treachery. As the Senator from Naboo and later the Chancellor of the Republic, he outwardly behaves like a well-intentioned and loyal public servant and supporter of democracy, yet underneath his affable public persona lurks his true identity: Darth Sidious, a Dark Lord of the Sith. As both Palpatine and Sidious, he sets into motion a series of events—including the Clone Wars—which ultimately destroys the Jedi Knights and the Republic, allowing him to usher in the Galactic Empire, a brutal authoritarian regime. -Taken from Wikipedia.com

Toy Gallery Update: Naboo Royal Guard VC83

Finally we get a nice scuplted Naboo Royal Guard. The first release was horrible with its shooting stance. When you put his arms down he looked totally retarded. This time around we get a fully articulated figure. Now if we can only get a few different head sculpts for future releases. By far this has to be the biggest improvement on any figure. What do you think about this figure? Leave your comments below. According to Wikipedia, this figure is named Chamberlyn.

Chamberlyn was a male Human who served as a lieutenant in the Royal Naboo Security Forces during the Trade Federation's invasion of Naboo. Chamberlyn became a leader in the resistance against the invader, and was responsible for analyzing and discovering weaknesses in the battle droids. Chamberlyn later accompanied Queen Padmé Amidala in an assault on the Theed Royal Palace during Amidala's bid to retake Naboo, helping her capture the Federation's Viceroy Nute Gunray.

Chamberlyn first appeared as an unnamed background extra in George Lucas' 1999 film Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, portrayed by an uncredited actor. The character received his name in the 2001 Theed Palace Limited expansion of the Star Wars Customizable Card Game by Decipher, Inc. In 2008, Lieutenant Chamberlyn received an entry in The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia.
